The first time I went to see this house was on one of those early summer days when the morning fog was gently drifting up the hills on North Fork Road. It was an easy drive from Homer to this property. Just a right hand turn and a scenic drive to the top of the hill.

This part of North Fork has some of the most breathtaking views on the Peninsula. Almost 360 degrees of ocean, volcanoes, rivers, and lush green hillsides. It’s gorgeous up there. In my opinion, it’s what living in Alaska is all about.

So when the owners of this property invited me over to discuss listing their property, I jumped. I was right to do that and it was almost a good thing we were surrounded by fog because instead of being awestruck by the view, I was awestruck by the house.

And what a house! Its modern farmhouse design is beautifully done. Enter into an arctic entrance with room for boots, coats and space to transition from outside to in (that’s an important thing in these parts). The custom tiled floor is welcoming and instantly sets the tone for the rest of the house.

Pass a muraled wall into the warm open living space. A large kitchen with stainless appliances, a farmhouse sink, kitchen island, and new cabinetry is magazine worthy.

Two bedrooms and two bathrooms are on that main floor along with a huge master bedroom with a custom built ensuite with tile work that would please a pro.  The master bedroom opens onto a back deck with a view looking out to the inlet.

There’s an upstairs apartment, too. Right now, it’s used as an AirBNB space and generates a fair income over summer. But you can use it for family and guests who will no doubt be up to visit.

Outside is about as good as it gets in Alaska. A huge yard, with a greenhouse, a wood-heated sauna, perennial gardens, a chicken coop and a large shed that can become a shop if you want it.

Speaking of want, this house can come completely furnished. What are you waiting for? Your Alaskan dream awaits!
